Things To Do
Things to do in Elizabeth –
Opposite the Elizabeth Motor Inn are many specialty shops with Adelaide’s CBD just a few minutes south. Mallala Raceway, Parafield Airport and the Elizabeth and Munno Para Shopping Centres are also close by. Just to the east of Elizabeth lies one of metropolitan Adelaide’s major recreation parks, Parra Wirra. Conserving 1410 ha of the northern Mt Lofty Ranges, Parra Wirra offers a wide range of facilities, including gas barbecues, picnic tables, playground, tennis courts and sports ovals. Elizabeth has become known as the Garden City and 30 minutes North East you will find the famous premier wine growing region of the Barossa Valley. The region is twenty kilometres wide and about thirty kilometres long and has 50 wineries. A friendly place, where you can share a drink with the people who actually make the region’s world class wines. You might meet them at the Barossa’s wineries and cellar doors, or you might run into them at the local restaurants. Situated in the undulating hills of ‘Kalimna’, a region 6km from Nuriootpa and surrounded by the vineyards of Penfolds Wines, is the hidden treasure of the Barossa Valley Golf Club. The Barossa Valley boasts many activities including local art, friendly cafes and stunning countryside to stretch your legs with a walk in the nearby National Park. The Murray River National Park consists of interesting habitats in such places as Katarapko Creek, Lyrup Flats, Bulyong Island and Eckert Creek.
